Special Services at All Saints in October to Christmas

All Saints’ Church opened on 4 July with full Covid precautions in place and the services (Sunday 8am and 10am, and Thursday 9.30am, plus Funerals, and Baptisms and soon a Wedding) have been held weekly since. Most people have been able to return, and all safely. Do come.

Harvest on 4th October will be as normal but the next special service after that on Nov 1 (together with the 10am All Saints’ Service) is the 4pm Bereavement Service, which usually has the numbers to be accommodated.

However, for Remembrance Sunday 8 Nov 10am, the PCC will discuss what format to do safely in its meeting on 23 September (we hope flag bearers will be there). This will also be true for the Christingle, Crib and Carol Services in Church and maybe on the Green (though this is currently unlikely). Midnight Mass may also be more than a single service too (I used to do 9.30pm and 11.15pm Services on Christmas Eve in a previous multi-parish Benefice).  I envisage number limits meaning that folk wishing to come phone the Parish Office and book on a first come first served basis on a specific date a few days before the event.

I envisage the 11am Service (10.50am) on Remembrance Sunday 8 Nov outside will be run in a limited way and any attending must be properly socially distanced and wear a mask. Fewer people may attend anyway though. Again, we will discuss this with Covid rules in mind as a PCC. As yet the accessaa.co.uk website of the Dept of Culture Media and Sport (DPMS) advise that folk now must provide contact name and number for any Track and Trace needed.

Of course, as the Pandemic situation changes from week to week it is difficult to make decisions for certain (c.f. the Southampton Boat Show in September!) – but rest assured we will try our best to find out for November!
